It is a priceless temple of Chiang Mai. It was located in Doi Suthep-Pui National Park. It is about 689 meters above the plains of Chiang Mai and 1,046 meters above sea level. Name of this mountain Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, was built in the early 19th century during the reign of King Kue Na Thammikarat. The 6th Chao Luang of Chiang Mai enshrined the relics he had brought from Si Satchanalai.
According to legend, King Kue Na Thammikarat split the Buddha’s relics into two parts. By inviting one of them to be placed at Phra That Wat Suan Dok, The other one was brought up on the auspicious elephant back. By Phra Chao Kue Na Thammikarat, who intended to pray and predict that if that rope of elephants Wherever stops, Phra That will be built at that place where the elephant has come to a stop at the top of Doi Suthep. by doing three rounds of Thaksinawat before falling (death), so King Kue Na Thammikarat ordered to build a relic The Lord Buddha’s relics were enshrined at the top of Doi Suthep, which has been in Chiang Mai ever since.
Interesting Thing
Inside the temple is an essential sanctuary of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, namely the pagoda containing the relics of the Lord Buddha. The Lord Buddha believes that if you come to worship and pray for Phra That Doi Suthep, There will be only success and fulfillment as desired, and you can overcome many obstacles. Another highlight here is the 300-step Naga staircase tourists have to use to get to the temple. But if you don’t want to walk up, The temple also has a cable car service going up and down Doi Suthep.
