It is a zoo under the supervision of the Zoological Park Organization of Thailand. An American missionary, Mr. Harold Mason Young (Mr.Harold Mason Young), founded him. Starting from opening a small private zoo around 1952, he later asked for land at the foot of Doi Suthep’s reserved forest directly to the governor of Chiang Mai. Until receiving permission to use the reserved forest area at the foot of Doi Suthep, about 60 rai, as a location for a private zoo Open for visitors from 6 April 1957 until 1957 1975, Mr. Harold passed away. Therefore, the zoo was transferred to be under the Zoological Park Organization of Thailand. Office of the Prime Minister in 1977 and is open to the present. Interesting Thing

Inside the Chiang Mai Zoo, there are many kinds of animals, such as giraffes, ostriches, rhinoceros, zebras, tigers, hippopotamuses, deer, civets, hedgehogs, peacocks, white tigers, elephants, bears, and animals brought from abroad such as flamingos—pink spruce koalas from Australia and pandas from China. In addition, there are other activities, such as Zoo Aquarium, where you can visit different marine animals. And there is a large underwater tunnel, a stage show showing the talents of animals, penguin gardens, and finch gardens as well, with an admission fee for Chiang Mai Zoo, Thai adults 100 baht, children (not over 135 cm.) 20 baht, seniors over 60 years old get in for free, foreigners 150 baht for adults, 70 baht for children.

If driving by yourself, Take Huay Kaew Road heading towards Doi Suthep Through Central Kad Suan Kaew, Maya Department Store, Chiang Mai University Chiang Mai Zoo is on the left-hand side. 800 meters from Chiang Mai University, or if taking a bus can take a red car from the city straight away
